SAM’S OFFICE - DAY
Sam
is sitting behind his desk. Natasha is leaning against the corner of the desk.
SAM
You did good for your first time out. We did some
righteous work.
NATASHA
I had a wicked fun time.
SAM
Why are you so fascinated by the macabre?
NATASHA
I guess I’m just a nec-romantic at heart.
Natasha
grins. Sam scowls. He reaches into his desk drawer and pulls out a zip-up bank
deposit bag.
SAM
Why don’t you take our earnings down to the bank,
and then you can have the rest of the day off.
Sam
hands the bag to Natasha.
NATASHA
Sounds good to me boss.
Natasha
heads for the door, stops, and turns back to Sam.
NATASHA
Get some sleep. You look like the living dead.
Natasha
winks and blows Sam a kiss. She turns and exits. Sam kicks back in his chair.
His eyelids grow heavy and he dozes off.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT.
DREAM TUNNEL - NIGHT
Sam
slips into a dream. He rockets down a dark tunnel. Soon the tunnel fills with
colorful lights and shapes. The shapes mutate into horrible twisted faces.
Späsmodeus
appears. He laughs at Sam. Then the Werewolf, Araina, the Witch, and Necro show
up. They all laugh. Finally, Sam sees the anguished faces of the Girl, from the
exorcism, the Woman, from the Werewolf attack, and Junior.
Suddenly,
everything goes black.
INT.
GROTTO - NIGHT
Sam
finds himself inside a rock grotto. The room is illuminated by flaming torches.
There is a circle of people clad in black robes and hoods. Within their circle
are two people strapped to an altar. Sam can’t see their faces.
He
steps forward trying to see the identity of the people strapped to the altar.
The DARK PRIEST, a large hooded man, intercepts Sam. The Dark Priest’s face
cannot be seen.
DARK
PRIEST
Not yet.
The
Dark Priest slaps Sam hard across the face.
INT.
SAM’S OFFICE - NIGHT
Sam
is asleep, with his head on the desk, when he awakens with a jolt. Standing in
front of him is LILITH, a drop-dead (pun intended) gorgeous woman. She is
wearing a short sexy dress and spike-heeled shoes.
LILITH
Did I wake you?
SAM
What can I help you with?
LILITH
You’re Sinister Sam. I’ve heard interesting things
about you.
SAM
From who?
LILITH
Word gets around.
Lilith
walks around to the side of the desk. She sits on the corner and crosses her
legs.
LILITH
I need your help.
Sam
catches himself looking at Lilith’s shapely figure.
INT.
JIMBO’S HOUSE/BASEMENT - NIGHT
Jimbo
stands in front of his work bench. Jack is by his side. On the bench is a
mandrake root, which is a large five-node potato-like thing.
JACK
What are you doing, pop?
JIMBO
I can’t let Ben Rothstein outdo me, so I’m making
myself a Mandrake.
JACK
A Mandrake? What’s that?
JIMBO
I’m going to turn this root into a little elf that
will do what ever I tell it to.
JACK
Cool, how are you going to do that?
JIMBO
I don’t know. Hand me that parchment.
Jimbo
indicates a rolled up parchment on a nearby stool. Jack retrieves it for Jimbo.
Jack looks at the Mandrake root.
JACK
Your Mandrake is a lot smaller than Mr. Rothstein’s
Golem.
JIMBO
You’re right. I better make a whole bunch of them.
Go out back and dig up some more roots.
JACK
Okay, but I’ll have to change costumes.
Jack
bounces up the basement stairs. Jimbo studies the parchment.
INT.
NATASHA’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Natasha
puts her crucifix in the night stand, then lays down in her bed. She shuts off
the lamp. The window is open. A gust of wind blows the curtains. She gets up to
close the window. Just then, a bat flies in. She SCREAMS.
The
bat flaps around the room. It dives for Natasha. She runs into the kitchen and
grabs a broom. She swats at the bat to no avail. Choosing a new course of
action, she flees the apartment, still in her nightgown.
INT.
HALLWAY - NIGHT
Natasha
runs down the hallway with the bat in pursuit. She reaches the elevator and
frantically presses the button. The doors open and she quickly enters the
elevator. The doors close just before the bat reaches the elevator.
INT.
ELEVATOR - NIGHT
Feeling
safe, Natasha breathes a sigh of relief. She presses the ground floor button.
The elevator comes to a stop and the doors open.
INT.
LOBBY - NIGHT
Natasha
steps out of the elevator into the lobby. To her horror, the bat is waiting for
her. She exits the building.
EXT.
STREET - NIGHT
Natasha
runs from the building, still in her nightgown. She bolts in a panic to the
nearest person. It’s HERMAN APHRODITE, a slim creepy effeminate man in his
mid-forties. He is dressed in an antiquated tuxedo.
NATASHA
Please, mister, you have to help me.
Herman
smiles.
HERMAN
Certainly, my dear. That’s why I am here.
Natasha
starts to get the creeps from Herman. She takes a step back.
NATASHA
I’m sorry.
HERMAN
For being underdressed? Don’t be. Let’s take a ride
in my carriage.
Suddenly,
a horse drawn carriage appears at the curb. The horses don’t exactly seem
equine in nature. They have glowing sinister eyes and dripping fangs.
NATASHA
No thanks. I better get going.
Natasha
starts backing away from Herman. He walks towards her.
HERMAN
I’ve been watching you. It’s imperative that you
come with me.
Herman
reaches for Natasha. She turns and runs back into her building.
INT.
NATASHA’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Natasha
sits paranoid on the kitchen floor. She has a string of garlic cloves around
her neck and a butcher knife in her hand.
INT.
SAM’S OFFICE - NIGHT
Lilith
is still sitting on the corner of the desk. Sam sits in his chair.
LILITH
Don’t you ever get the feeling like things happen
for a reason? Like fate?
SAM
Lady, do you want to hire me for a job, or what?
LILITH
Please, call me Lilith. And I have something else in
mind for you.
Lilith
reaches over and takes off Sam’s hat. She runs her fingers through his hair.
SAM
What are you doing?
LILITH
Aren’t you attracted to me?
Sam
grabs his hat and puts it back on his head.
SAM
Not one bit.
Sam
stands up. Lilith gets closer and tries to kiss Sam. He pushes her away.
LILITH
Don’t you want me?
SAM
It’s time for you to leave.
LILITH
How can you resist me?
SAM
Get out of my office.
Lilith’s
eyes turn red and she grows fangs. Her voice drops several octaves.
LILITH
You will regret this. I’ll make you pay. Your soul
will be mine.
With
that, Lilith disappears into a fireball. Sam reaches for his holy water, but
it’s too late.
EXT.
JIMBO’S HOUSE - NIGHT
The
house is completely dark. A FLASH of lightening rips through the sky. A
brilliant light emits from the basement window. Jimbo can be heard LAUGHING.
JIMBO
(O.S.)
Yeah baby!
Jimbo
continues LAUGHING.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT.
CUL-DE-SAC - DAY
Ben
sits in a lawn chair in his front yard. His Golem is pruning a tree. Jimbo is
kicked back on a chaise lounge, drinking a beer. His yard is scattered with
Mandrakes, which are small elf-like creatures. They perform various tasks.
Some
Mandrakes are picking weeds. Three Mandrakes standing on each others shoulders
are trimming a hedge. Jimbo yells to Ben.
JIMBO
Hey Ben, how do you like my Mandrakes? Pretty nifty,
huh?
BEN
What, them? They’re so small and puny.
JIMBO
You’re just jealous. Admit it, my Mandrakes are
better than your big clumsy Golem.
BEN
Not in your wildest dreams.
Lorenzo
pulls up in his BMW. He gets out and walks up to Jimbo. He looks on in
amazement at the busy Mandrakes.
LORENZO
What are these things all over your yard, Jimbo?
JIMBO
Mandrakes. You like ‘em?
LORENZO
You gotta be kidding me.
JIMBO
I’m sure you’d like to get some, but only a person
of European heritage can make them. Sorry neighbor.
Jimbo
smiles a poop-eating grin. Lorenzo turns and walks to his house. Both Jimbo and
Ben laugh at him.
LORENZO
I have to get out of this neighborhood.
Lorenzo
shakes his head as he enters his house.
The
curtains in a window on Reicher’s house draw back. It’s dark inside. Only small
sinister glowing green eyes can be seen. The sound of LAUGHTER comes from
inside the house.
INT.
LORENZO’S HOUSE - DAY
Lorenzo
is looking out the window at Jimbo and Ben. Janelle is seated on the sofa.
LORENZO
Do you believe these jokers?
JANELLE
I don’t want to get involved.
Lorenzo
turns at looks at his wife.
LORENZO
You got Rothstein with his Jewish Golem, and Sparks
with his European heritage Mandrakes. What about me?
JANELLE
Let it go, Lorenzo.
LORENZO
I’m a proud black man. What kind of a creature is
there for me to make? This is exactly why I didn’t want to move to the suburbs.
Lorenzo
storms out of the room.
